Red flags, green flags

How to tell a real download page from a bad one.

Walk away when

  • A download page requests your bank card.
  • One download button leads to a second, then a third.
  • A game wants your contacts or your messages.
  • The file's name has nothing to do with what you came for.

Good signs

  • You pick your platform before anything downloads.
  • Updates come from the same spot you installed from.
  • The installer opens on a list of apps and games you can browse.

Your installer is on the counter.
